You Are Not Forgotten Pavilion
The Mayville VFW is sponsoring and coordinating the construction of a 40' x 60' Veterans Pavilion on the grounds of the Mayville Museum. This site was chosen because we believe that we can best honor our Veterans by erecting a facility that will be well used by the public, especially children, educating all users as to the sacrifices that were made by our Veterans so that we can live in a free and democratic society.
The museum has fascinating displays and spacious grounds that are already used for a number of events, such as an Easter Egg Hunt, school field trips, antique car show and a buck pole. Unfortunately, the museum lacks a pavilion type structure. The presence of a new pavilion will greatly increase the number and type of events that can be held there. The spacious grounds and attractions of the museum, once the pavilion is completed, will make it an ideal place for family type events. Its attractiveness for school field trips will be greatly enhanced.
The wall on the back of the pavilion will be designated as the wall of honor. For a donation of at least $1,000., a permanent plaque will be installed on the wall, denoting the donor and the Veteran or event being honored. For example, one plaque which has already been pledged will read “In honor of the soldiers of the 1st Air Cav who fought in the La Drang Valley, November 1965” Commemorative bricks will also be available for a smaller donation.
We invite all persons, businesses, civic organizations, and VSO's in this area to donate to, or co-sponsor this pavilion project, Since the pavilion will be the property of the museum, which has a 501 C 3 designation, all donations will be tax deductible. We need $60,000. to complete the project. With pledges from the Mayville VFW and local individuals and civic groups, we are already half way there!
Please join us in this effort to honor our Veterans.
